Who can use linguvo

You must be at least 13 years old, or older if the law of your country requires a higher age to use online services without a parent's consent.

Each account is for one person and works on one iPhone at a time. Signing in on a new device signs you out of the previous one.

Your account

You sign in with your email address and a code we send to it. Keep your email account secure, and turn on two-factor authentication in linguvo for extra protection. You are responsible for what happens in your account.

If you think someone else has access to your account, contact us at support@linguvo.app.

Acceptable use

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. You must not use linguvo to:

• break the law or help others break it;
• harass, threaten, bully or intimidate anyone, or promote hatred or violence;
• share sexual content involving minors, or any sexual content without the consent of the people involved;
• send spam, scams, malware or unsolicited advertising;
• impersonate other people or misrepresent who you are;
• infringe other people's rights, including privacy and intellectual property;
• interfere with the service, access it with automated tools, or get around its limits, its ads or its security.

You can block anyone and report a person or a message from the app: touch and hold a message, or open the person's info. You can also write to support@linguvo.app. We review every report, and we may remove content and suspend or delete accounts that break these terms, in serious cases without notice.

Your content

Your messages, photos and profile remain yours. You give us permission to store, transmit and translate them only as needed to run linguvo for you and the people you talk to. You are responsible for what you send.

Automatic translation

Translations in linguvo are produced automatically and may be inaccurate or miss nuances. Do not rely on them for medical, legal, financial or other important decisions.

Free use and ads

linguvo is free to use. Your first 3 days are without ads; after that, linguvo shows ads unless you subscribe to linguvo without ads. Ads never use the content of your messages.

The linguvo without ads subscription

• linguvo without ads removes the ads for as long as the subscription is active. It costs US$1.99 a month, or the equivalent price in your local currency shown in the App Store before you buy.
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase.
• The subscription renews automatically each month unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
• You can manage or cancel the subscription in your App Store account settings, or from Profile in linguvo. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you already paid for.
• Deleting your linguvo account does not cancel the subscription. Cancel it in your App Store account settings.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.
• We may offer promotional codes that give a period of linguvo without ads for free. They are redeemed through the App Store and are subject to Apple's terms.

Apple and the App Store

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for linguvo or its content. In addition:

• You may use linguvo on Apple devices you own or control, as allowed by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
• We, not Apple, are responsible for maintenance and support of linguvo.
• If linguvo fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation regarding linguvo.
• We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to linguvo, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection and privacy claims, and claims that it infringes someone else's intellectual property.
• You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• You must also comply with the terms of third parties that apply to your use of linguvo, such as your mobile carrier.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

Changes to linguvo

We keep improving linguvo, so features may change, be added or be removed. We may also stop offering linguvo; if that happens, we will tell you in advance when we can.

Ending your use

You can stop using linguvo at any time and delete your account from Profile → Delete account. We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms.

Liability

We work hard to keep linguvo reliable, but we provide it "as is" and cannot guarantee that it will always be available or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for content sent by other users.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract, or our liability where the law does not allow it to be limited.

Applicable law

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan, and the Tokyo District Court has jurisdiction over disputes in the first instance. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring claims in the courts there.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is important, we will let you know in the app or by email before it applies. The date at the top shows the latest version.
